Fishing in Rockingham

Rockingham has many recreational fishing areas including public jetties and excellent beach fishing locations along the Rockingham coastline.

There is the very popular Kwinana Jetty where the ever present herring and whiting can be caught. Snapper, mulloway and even the odd tuna and Spanish mackerel has been caught from this hotspot.

Palm Beach Jetty, in Mangles Bay along the Esplanade has similar species caught to the Kwinana Jetty with the chance of catching squid in the evenings. This is a very popular spot for the locals.

Cape Peron, or Point Peron as it is referred to by the locals, is also another great spot for flathead, flounder, herring and whiting.

The Causeway is a private navy road linking Garden Island to the mainland. You can not drive over the Causeway but you can fish under it for absolutely every species in the area.

Some areas of the Shoalwater Island Marine Park, particularly the Sanctuary Zones are off limits to recreational fishing and boating. For more information on the Shoalwater Island Marine Park refer to
